The arrangement
You’re good at this.
That may be part of the problem.
You know how to make it work. The job. The schedule. Being the person who notices what needs doing and quietly does it.
And because you can keep making it work, the arrangement keeps renewing itself. Your competence gets treated as consent.
Maybe you’ve been looking at job listings. Maybe you’ve been telling yourself to be grateful. Maybe you don’t want to leave at all. You just can’t keep doing it on these terms.
Underneath that can be an agreement you never remember making:
If I can handle it, it’s mine to carry.
If they need me, I have to stay.
I can want something else once everyone else is settled.
Those agreements can organize an entire life. They deserve to be examined before you build another one around them.
Leaving is not the only exit.
Sometimes the exit is a different job. Sometimes it’s a different division of responsibility, a conversation you’ve postponed, or a boundary you stop treating as negotiable. We’ll look at your actual situation.
